11 Original Works | 60 cm Round | Gold, Brown & White
In 2022, Katie Alize was commissioned to create a collection of original artworks for the Gold Tier Suites at the iconic Fairmont Banff Springs in Alberta, Canada.
Set within the dramatic landscape of Banff National Park, the historic hotel is surrounded by the Canadian Rockies, an environment defined by scale, texture, light and an extraordinary sense of place. The commission provided an opportunity for Katie to translate some of these natural qualities into an abstract visual language, creating works designed to complement the atmosphere of the suites while remaining distinctive as individual pieces.
The collection comprises 11 original 60 cm circular artworks, developed in a palette of warm gold, earthy brown and white. Each piece was built through layers of hand painted and sprayed colour, texture and movement before being finished with a high-gloss resin surface. As light moves across the resin surface, different layers and details emerge, allowing each work to shift subtly throughout the day.
